Test and Tag Costs

Importance of knowing your costs upfront

If you need to budget for test and tag services, it is important to understand how test and tag costs are calculated. Prices for testing and tagging are usually charged by item. The more items you require testing and tagging, the higher the total cost.
Most vendors will usually provide a volume discount for larger numbers of items thereby dropping the total test and tag cost.
Additional factors that affect pricing are:

  • Travel distance to the site,
  • Accessibility to equipment, and
  • any site-specific requirements such as Personal Protective Equipment PPE or special permits.

Further, if you require testing & tagging in combination with other services, for example RCD Testing or 3 Phase Testing and Tagging the overall cost per item will also come down.

The biggest challenge to effectively budget your test and tag costs is knowing how many items you have.

Some ways to find this out, are:

  • Looking at compliance reports from test and tag jobs completed at your premises in the past.
  • Perform a quick count yourself. You can use one of our checklists to help guide you through the process. Rule of thumb is: If it has a plug – it needs tagging and testing.
  • To get the total cost, simply multiply the number of items by the price on the price list.

Risk of hidden fees and charges

Common examples of hidden costs are:

  • Minimum call out fee or charges
  • Minimum number of items that require testing and tagging
  • Volume discounts that start at unrealistic numbers
  • Admin fees for generating the reports
  • Service Fees

Nobody likes being ripped off. This is why we keep our pricing simple and transparent, making us one of the most cost-effective test and tag providers in Perth and Western Australia.
We don’t try and draw you in with a low cost promises for test and tag jobs just to hit you with travelling fees, admin fees and other “hidden” service fees.
